 What
is the Magic of Numbers? Simply put, it is the power of
multiplication, or the old saying "many hands make heavy work
light".
Consider this: there are
approximately 5,000 homes in Hopkinton. What if every home
donated $10 to the HCE?
That would be $50,000.
How about if every home donated $10 a month
for one year? That would be $600,000. More than half a
million dollars in one year, helping to reduce our tax burden.
$600,000 is more than six times the
amount collected by the HCE in any year since it began. It is
certainly a large amount of money, but with each household
contributing only $10 a month for 12 months, we can do it.
The HCE is Hopkinton's opportunity to
radically help control its tax rate. Endowments have worked for colleges and universities for decades, it will work for
Hopkinton.
